FAQ
1) Who is Swami Paramananda?
Swami Paramananda is one of the greatest living spiritual geniuses of this era. He is an enlightened being, an accomplished meditation master, a living buddha who has experienced cosmic consciousness or Nirvana, which is the peak of spiritual attainment. He lives constantly in the blissful no-thought state, making use of the mental faculty only when the need arises.
Swami Paramananda is a master or guru to an increasing number of seekers and disciples, guiding them towards the ultimate possibility of human life – cosmic consciousness. He has made it his life mission to help seekers from all walks of life to attain peak consciousness and thus pave the way to a global mind transformation. This is the most challenging goal ever set by anyone in the world.
2) Why the title swami?
The word swami, meaning ‘master’ in Sanskrit, is not a Hindu denomination, but simply a title conferred on enlightened beings who are masters of their own self. Enlightenment is the attainment of cosmic consciousness and that is universal. So a swami cannot belong to any community but to the whole of humanity.
3) What does Swami Paramananda advocate?
Swami Paramananda teaches that all religions meet at the source, that all human beings have divinity latent in them and that the ultimate possibility of each and every person is the attainment of cosmic consciousness. He offers guidance on the science of meditation, spirituality and mysticism through courses, sensitisation talks and writings. People being of different temperaments, inclinations and levels of consciousness, he gives countless meditation techniques as a single method cannot be equally effective for everybody.
Besides his personal guidance, Swami Paramananda’s highly elevating subtle vibrations constitute a great boost in seekers’ endeavour. He knows the secrets of the inner journey leading to the state of meditation and only one who has attained enlightenment can guide others. Swami Paramananda teaches seekers how to use the circumstances of everyday life to transform them into opportunities for self-learning. His motto is ‘Know Thyself’ for he maintains that it is only by knowing oneself that all else gets known.
4) What are the works of Swami Paramananda?
Swami Paramananda is the founder of the Satyam Gyanam Anandam Society (SGAS), a Non-governmental organisation. This ONG’s aim is to provide to seekers the opportunity, guidance and support to realise self-transformation. The SGAS is based in the island of Mauritius, the birthplace of Swami Paramananda, and has an affiliate in the United Kingdom.
Swamiji is also a prolific writer who has authored 20 books and published 25 issues of the ‘Know Thyself’ bi-annual magazine – all meant to enlighten people on the science of meditation, spirituality and many topics related closely to spiritual evolution. He pays special attention to the education offered to students and has proposed the introduction of a new module known as Self-Education in the secondary school curriculum. This is meant to cater for the missing dimension in academic education and to allow students to emerge as flourished human beings after schooling.
5) Why does one need the guidance of Swami Paramananda?
Personal guidance is needed at every stage of life, from birth to death. No one achieves much without practice or only through a theoretical approach. There are many works on meditation; there is even profound knowledge from the scriptures, but words can never convey the truth and the experience of cosmic consciousness; they are only pointing fingers. Therefore without a proven Master of the calibre of Swami Paramananda as guidance it is just like as if one is taking the risk of trying to reach an unknown destination using only the support of maps (which may be he/she has not even known how to use!) without the assistance of an expert guide by his/her side.
6) What is the approach of Swami Paramananda?
Swami Paramananda has a unique approach that makes him easily accessible to people of different temperaments and inclinations. Both the rational-minded and the devotional type of people will feel at ease with his way of guiding and helping seekers. Above all, Swami Paramananda is a friend to all those who approach him. He maintains that the greatest and purest relationship can only happen between a master and a disciple for only a master can understand the heart and mind of a seeker. And knowing the secrets of both the mind and the heart, he can best guide one according to his/her level of consciousness.
